IQ CAMBRIDGE INSPIRES WINNING WILD LIFE PHOTOGRAPHERS!
There is obviously plenty to inspire photographers in the landscapes and wild life of IQ Cambridge, which was the subject of a photographic competition held by landlords SEGRO last month.
Entrants were given an open brief to submit photos of their own favourite views or subjects within the park, drawing an enthusiastic response of over 30 entries from businesses based on the park.
The 112-acre business park incorporates a 32-acre nature reserve combining a wild life lake, willow wood and open grassland areas. The natural habitat of Golden Oriels and Great Crested Newts, the nature reserve has not only been preserved intact, but is the subject of an on-going ecological maintenance programme.
The competition judges included local wildlife photographer Jeff Harrison, who recently held a successful exhibition of his work at the Boardwalk Centre conference suite, and park receptionists Karen Fogarty and Nikki Hawksley, who remarked on the high standard of the entries, which included some prize specimens of macro and contra-jour photography.
‘Red Berries’, the winning entry in the photographic competition, (pictured) was submitted by Michelle Wilson of LLC. Runners up Jenny Bailey of CRFS, with her ‘Sunset Over the Lake’, and David Smith of Vitec, with his ‘Spider and Greenfly’.
SEGRO have recently installed gravel pathways, gates and fences, and the park and wildlife reserve has a purpose-built bird watchers hide overlooking the main lake. It is also open to photographers and visiting school parties by arrangement.
